Keyboard Tester / Double click test
Double click test
Click once, slowly, several times. If the tester flags two presses less than 80 milliseconds apart when you only pressed once, the switch in your mouse button is registering a click twice. The same box measures how fast you can double-click and how many clicks per second you manage in 5 or 10 seconds.

Click log
Is my mouse double-clicking by itself?
Use Free test and press the left button once, wait a second, and repeat about twenty times. Every press should add exactly one to Clicks. A flag appears whenever the same button goes down twice within 80 milliseconds. Two deliberate presses by one finger are almost never closer than that, so a flag after a single press means the contact bounced. Because the check looks at the time between two button-down events, a result of one or two flags in a long session is worth watching, and several flags in twenty presses is a clear fault.
Why it happens and what helps
Mouse buttons use small mechanical switches. With wear, or dust and oxidation on the contact, the metal bounces and the electronics see a second press. Things that sometimes help: blow out the area around the button with compressed air, try the mouse on another computer to rule out software, and check the vendor software for a debounce or click-delay setting. If the flags continue, the switch is wearing out. Many mice are covered by a warranty, and some switches can be replaced by someone comfortable with a soldering iron.
Double-click speed
When you double-click inside the box, the tester shows the time between the two button presses. Operating systems accept two clicks as a double-click only within their own time setting, often around half a second, and in the same spot. If your double-clicks open files one moment and are ignored the next, compare your measured interval with that setting in your system’s mouse options.
Clicks per second
Choose the 5 or 10 second test, then click the box with the left button. The timer starts on your first click. The result is clicks divided by seconds. Casual clicking is usually a few per second; high numbers come from practice and light switches. This score says nothing about whether the mouse is healthy, so use the flags for that.
Questions people ask
Why does my mouse double-click when I click once?
The switch under the button is probably bouncing: worn or dirty contacts make two electrical presses out of one. Run the free test here. If the tester flags presses under 80 ms apart after single clicks, that is chatter. Cleaning, a debounce setting or replacing the switch or mouse are the usual fixes.
How do I check my double-click speed?
Double-click inside the test box. The panel shows the interval between the two presses in milliseconds. Your system also has its own double-click speed setting that decides how close the clicks must be to count.
What is a good clicks per second score?
Most people land between 4 and 7 clicks per second when clicking steadily. Above 10 usually needs a special technique. A high score does not mean a healthy mouse; the chatter flags matter more for that.
Can the test fix a mouse that clicks twice?
No. It only shows whether the problem is there. Then you can clean the mouse, change the click delay in its software if it has one, or replace the mouse or the switch.
Does this work with a trackpad?
It counts presses of a trackpad button or tap, but the 80 ms rule was chosen for physical mouse switches, so a flag from a trackpad tap is less meaningful.
