What stays on your device

Key presses, mouse clicks, wheel movement and controller input are processed by scripts in the page you have open. The id string a controller reports is shown on screen so you can tell devices apart and is never sent anywhere. Your chosen layout and label style are saved in your browser’s local storage, together with a random visitor id used to count visits without knowing who you are.

What the site records

When you use a tester, the page sends short anonymous events to this site’s own server, for example "first key pressed", the rollover bucket (such as 6-7), "back mouse button used", or "controller connected" with a button and axis count. They never include which keys you pressed, what you typed or a controller id. The server stores the time, the page, the referring site, your country and whether the device looks like a phone or desktop. Your IP address is turned into a salted hash used only to limit abuse, and the hash is not linked to the events.

Feedback form

If you send a message on the contact page, we store the message, the optional email address you typed and the page you wrote from, to read and answer you. Do not include anything you want kept private.

Cookies, analytics and ads

The site itself sets no cookies. The hosting provider may measure page visits at its edge without cookies. The site is meant to be paid for by ads; before any ad provider is added, this page will be updated to say which one and what it collects.

The site uses Google Analytics (GA4) for anonymous usage statistics, such as page views and which tests are used. Google may set cookies or read an identifier in your browser for this. The tester events sent to it are the same short counts described above and never include which keys you pressed, a controller id, file names or your email address. No ad code is on the site yet.
